What is Easter?
Throughout the year, and especially on Easter Sunday and the Easter season from Easter to Pentecost, we celebrate the victory of Jesus over sin and death for us!

Romans 4:24-25 (NLT)
It was for us, too, assuring us that God will also declare us to be righteous if we believe in God, who brought Jesus our Lord back from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised from the dead to make us right with God.

Romans 10:8-10 (NLT)
Salvation that comes from trusting Christ--which is the message we preach--is already within easy reach. In fact, the Scriptures say, "The message is close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart." For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

An Easter Prayer
n the mid-1520's, during a sermon on the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, Dr. Martin Luther offered these words and prayer.

Therefore seek and learn to know Christ aright, for the whole Scriptures confer upon us the righteousness of the true knowledge of Christ. But this must be brought about by the Holy Spirit. Let us therefore pray God that his Gospel may prosper, that we all may truly learn to know Christ and thus rise with him and be honored by God as he was honored.

Please come share in this Gospel with us at St. John so that, together, we may all say 'Amen' to this prayer. Have a blessed Easter time from the congregation of St. John Nottingham Lutheran in Cleveland.

He is Risen! He is Risen, indeed! Hallelujah!
