Ten days after the ascension of Jesus, the Holy Spirit was sent to the disciples. Red is the color for Pentecost, symbolizing the tongues of fire that appeared on the apostles. The color for the Sundays following Pentecost is green to represent growth. During this "time of the Church", we are to be learning and growing in the knowledge of God's Word.
